“Phab” stands for PHysically Disabled & ABle Bodied, but we try to ensure that everyone has a really ‘fab’experience.
Known simply as
We believe that ‘What We Do’ and ‘What We Aim For’ is far more important than what the name stands for.
Phab is a national charity based in Croydon.
Phab’s aim is to promote and encourage people of all abilities get together on equal terms, to achieve complete inclusion within the wider community.
One of the ways it does this is through the nation-wide network of Phab Clubs.
Phab was founded in 1957 resulting from a discussion among a group of young people at a National Association of Youth Clubs holiday. Terry Rolfe, a young disabled man who took part in that discussion, explained that he believed that disabled people wanted “opportunity and not pity”.
Lord Snowdon is Phab’s Patron. Ed Stewart is the Phab President and Rolf Harris and Sir Cliff Richard are two of its many Vice Presidents.
